The PAS Congress is a valuable educational and networking experience for professionals early in their careers. It offers the opportunity to meet industry leaders, learn about the most cutting-edge research, and be a part of shaping the direction of the field. 

To enable and encourage early-stage professionals to join us at the PAS Congress, the Fellows Scholarships support fellows in the field with funding to attend. Awardees receive waived registration fees and $1,000 USD to assist with the cost of travel and participation.

MDS Membership is FREE for residents, fellows, and those training in healthcare or scientific research.

Eligibility

The PAS Congress Fellowship Scholarship program is open to all current fellows and/or residents entering into a fellowship program in the field of Movement Disorders residing within the MDS-PAS region.

Your fellowship status must be confirmed in writing by your fellowship director or training facilitator, and submitted at the time of application. Applications received without written verification of fellowship status will not be accepted.

MDS Membership is encouraged, but not required, to qualify for the PAS Congress Fellowship Scholarship program. Membership is free for residents, fellows and trainees. Learn more about free membership »

Fellowship Scholarship Award

The PAS Congress Fellowship Scholarship provides awarded applicants with waived registration fees and $1,000 USD to assist with the cost of travel and participation at the PAS Congress. Housing, meals and transportation are not provided.

Only one scholarship will be awarded per individual. Applicants that apply for and are awarded a PAS Congress Travel Grant award will not be eligible to receive the Fellowship Scholarship award.

Application Processes

Only one application per individual will be considered; multiple entries will be disregarded. 

Applicants must complete the online application in full, including written verification of fellowship status at the time of application. Applications received without written verification of fellowship status will not be accepted. 

Fellowship status verification letters must contain all following criteria: 
-    Applicant’s name, title, and address
-    Institution name, address 
-    Fellowship program start date and anticipated program completion date
-    Director’s signature and date

Any form of written fellowship verification that includes the criteria listed above is acceptable, but you can view a sample template. 

Deadline: Monday, October 23, 2023
The 2024 PAS Congress Fellowship Scholarship program will accept applications until Monday, October 23, 2023. Late submissions will not be accepted. 

Application Review

Submitted 2024 PAS Congress Fellows Scholarship applications will receive a cumulative score based on the responses provided. Fellowship verification letters will be reviewed and program directors may be contacted as needed for confirmation. The selected Fellows Scholarship awardees will be verified by the PAS Congress Scientific Program Committee Chairs.

Confirmation and Notification Processes

A confirmation email will be automatically sent to the email address provided in the application. This email is verification that the submission was successfully received and will be reviewed. If a confirmation email is not received within 24-hours of submission, it is likely that the application was not successfully received and must be resubmitted.

All applicants will receive a notification email regarding the outcome of their application in November 2023. The results of the notification are final; requests for reevaluation will not be considered.

Attendance

Attendance at the 5th PAS Congress is required for all 2024 PAS Fellows Scholarship recipients. Please only apply for a Fellows Scholarship if you plan to travel to Cartagena, Colombia for the 5th PAS Congress.

If you are awarded a 2024 PAS Fellows Scholarship and your attendance status for the 5th PAS Congress changes for any reason, please contact the MDS International Secretariat at pascongress@movementdisorders.org at the earliest opportunity so we may redistribute the scholarship to another qualified candidate. Please note: the 2024 PAS Congress Fellows Scholarship is only transferrable via the MDS International Secretariat.
